Identity Through Identification
Even though humanity has been rebellious and dishonorable, God is advancing toward us. Though we have disregarded His grace, he is still working to bring reconciliation.
Because of mankind’s extraordinary value and worth, God sent his first-born son to reconcile us. Jesus didn’t just come to eliminate the darkness and sin in our hearts. He came to restore us into a place of family and give us an identity.
Through this, we will not only perceive who we are, but whose we are.
So how does this work? How do individuals with a marred image and a fragmented being become restored to their Heavenly Father?
In the simplest terms, restoration takes place through identification.
By deep association and trust, we are accredited with what Jesus did. What was released through His death, resurrection, and ascension has now been given to us.
The old way of life, with its evil tendencies, was crucified with Jesus. Sin’s dominion is broken. Through his victory, believers are no longer a slave to old patterns. We are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).
In the midst of everything going on around us, we must not forget the beauty and wonder of the good news.
